The Chordeens, Accordion Queens!

Sharon Kusnerz, Carol Benedyk, Catherine Hawkes, and Sophia Travis often gather together to play for parties, benefit concert events, senior citizens, and assisted living environments.

Catherine Hawkes embellishes the music of The Chordeens with her multi-instrumentalist talents. Her tenor banjo, mandolin, and percussion livens up the repertoire. Ms. Hawkes also leads the way in guiding her band mates to make tasteful stylistic choices as she is a scholar of all things musical!

Sophia Travis brings an interest in musical gems from foreign countries and "spicy" locales. Combining this penchant with Sharon & Carol's treasure trove of sheet music and accordion band arrangements has led to The Chordeens playing as the "frontline" of Hoosier Squeeze. Subsequently, The Chordeens actively plays as a group in their own right.

Sharon & Carol have been performing together since they were young girls and have been an inspiration to all the Hoosier Squeeze members with whom they've shared their music library, musicality, and experienced accordion band musicianship.

Neither flashy or silly, The Chordeens err more on the side of a cheerful and down-to-earth style based on strong but understated playing skills---- some times tiaras are donned by The Chordeens…because on the special days the group plays, an inner queenly attitude and sparkles seem apropos accordion to the occasion!

Look for The Chordeens making an appearance at the annual Middleway Art Show at Bloomington City Hall on March 4th (time TBA).

When spring approaches, you can also find Carol Benedyk selling her beautiful flowers at the eastside Bloomingfood's Farmer's Market on saturdays!
